19 June 2003
• AGE-NC Protect No 99-0657
Page 3 of
One or more BTE&X compounds were detected in water samples collected from wells MW 1,MW2
and MW4 with maximum concentrations of 330 µg/1 benzene, 310 µg/1 toluene, 19 µg/1
ethylbenzene and 150 µg/1 xylenes in MW-1
MTBE was detected in water samples collected from wells MW1, MW2, MW4 and MW6 at a
maximum concentration of 670 µg/1 (MW2) TAME was detected in the water samples collected
from well MW2 at a concentration of 4 1 µg/1
1,2-DCA was detected in water samples collected from MWI, MW4 and MW6 at a maximum
Iconcentration of 31 µg/1 (MW6)
No other fuel additives were detected at or above laboratory detection limits in the ground water
samples analyzed The analytical results of water samples collected in April 2003 are summarized
on Table 2 The laboratory report (CTEL Lab Project No CT214-0304050), QA/QC report and
chain-of-custody form are Included in Appendix C
lie 4.0. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
The following conclusions were drawn from the results of this investigation
• The ground water elevations ranged from 5 48 to 6 31 feet above MSL Ground water is
inferred to be flowing toward the southwest with an average ground water gradient of
0 006 feet/feet The ground water elevation at the site remained fairly stable with a nominal
average decrease of 0 04 feet between the January 2002 and April 2003 monitoring events
• The highest concentrations of dissolved hydrocarbons occurred in monitoring wells MW1,
MW4 and MW6,which are located down-gradient of the UST area Iso-concentration maps
depicting the approximate distribution of dissolved TPH-g,benzene and MTBE are presented
in Figures 4, 5 and 6
I0 Concentrations of dissolved TPH-g, TPH-d, BTE&X and fuel additives have remained
relatively stable Benzene concentrations decreased to non-detectable levels in samples from
l wells MW5 and MW6 The lateral extent of ground water has only been defined to the north,
1 east and southeast of the UST area The vertical extent of petroleum hydrocarbon-impacted
ground water has not been defined.
•
i
Advanced GcolJnvironmentai,Inc
i
