The gioundwater in the vicinity of the site is unconfined Groundwater elevation at the
site varies from a wet year high of 25 feet bgs to at least 50 feet bgs during the previous
drought period Groundwater flow direction at the site has generally been to the east
QUARTERLY GROUNDWATER MONITORING 9/8/99
WEGE and Pittman Well Purging (PWP) collected quarterly groundwater samples from
the three monitor wells at the site on September 9, 1999 See Appendix A for QA/QC,
details methods, procedures, abbreviations, and acronyms used in sampling and analysis
See Appendix B for copies of the field data sheets
DEPTH TO WATER MEASUREMENTS
WEGE measured depth to water in all «ells on September 9 1999 The measurements
were made from the surveyed elevation datum at the top of casing at each well using an
electrical air/water interface probe (Table 1) No free product or product sheen was
obsen ed in any of the monitor«ells
COLLECTION AND CERTIFIED ANALYSIS OF GROL" DI NVATER SAMPLES
Following depth to water measurements, PWP purged three well volumes of water from
each well using a truck innounted vacuum lift pump and dedicated one inch diameter PVC
tubing The purged wastewater was temporarily contained on-site in labeled 55 gallon
DOT approved drums
After purging, the wells were allowed to recoNer to at least 80% of their oiiginal well
I,olumes A groundwater sample was then collected from each cell with a disposable
polyethylene bailer and decanted with no head space into two 40 ml VOA vials
containing 0 5 ml HCL acid as a preservati,e
The samples were delivered with accompanying chain of custody documentation to North
State Environmental Laboratories (DHS Certification 41753) The certified laboratory
analyzed the water samples from each monitor well for concentrations of TPH-G, BTEX
and MTBE
GROUNDWATER GRADIENT AND FLOW DIRECTION
Figure 4 shows the groundwater elevation gradient and flow direction determined from
depth to water measurements at the three on-site monitor wells on September 9, 1999
The groundwater elevation has decreased by an average of 101 feet at the three monitor
wells since the previous quarterly monitoring round on April 12, 1999 The flow
direction is to the south The overall gradient is 0 01 feet/linear foot
•
2 Arc Pump QM 7-9 1999
