30 April 2005 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 95-0141 <br /> Page 4of10 <br /> MW-5, MW-7 and MW-8A through MW-12A, approximately 20 to 22 5 gallons of water were <br /> removed from deep-screened wells MW-8B,MW-11 B,MW-12B and EX-1 and 60 gallons of water <br /> were removed from well MW-13 Wells MW-9B and MW-10B were purged dry prior to the removal <br /> of three casing volumes, the wells were allowed to recharge prior to sampling <br /> Temperature,pH and conductivity of purged ground water were measured at regular purge intervals <br /> using an Oakton water analyzer The field data and field sheets are included in Appendix D Purged <br /> water was temporarily stored on-site in 55-gallon DOT-approved H-17 storage drums pending proper <br /> disposal <br /> 2 2 2 Ground Water Sample Collection and Analysis <br /> Prior to the collection of ground water samples,the depth to ground water was re-measured in each <br /> well to ensure that a minimum of 80% of the initial water volume had recharged A water sample <br /> was then collected from each well from the discharge tubing or using a new, dedicated, disposable <br /> plastic bailer Immediately upon retrieval,the sample was transferred into three properly labeled 40- <br /> milliliter EPA-approved volatile organic analysis(VOA)vials containing 0 5 ml 18%hydrochloric <br /> acid as a sample preservative The samples were logged on a chain of custody form, stored in a <br /> chilled container and transported under chain of custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories <br /> (CTEL), a California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory, The ground water <br /> samples were analyzed for <br /> • Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) in accordance with EPA <br /> Method 8015 Modified, <br /> • Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX) in accordance with EPA Method <br /> 8260B, and <br /> • Di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether (ETBE), MTBE, tertiary-amyl methyl <br /> ether(TAME), tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA), ethanol, methanol, 1,2-dibromoethane (EDB) <br /> and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) in accordance with EPA Method 8260B <br /> 23 WASTE DISPOSAL <br /> EOn 05 January 2005, approximately 285 gallons of non-hazardous purge water, generated during <br /> previous ground water monitoring events and well installation activities,were removed from the site <br /> by American Valley Waste Oil of Delhi, California In addition, 650 pounds of non-hazardous soil <br /> generated during the December 2004 monitoring well installation activities were removed from the <br /> site Transportation and disposal of non-hazardous soil was completed by Slaby Sales of Borrego <br /> Advanced GeoEnvnronmental,Inc <br />
