1
detection limits at RESNA for BTEX and TPHG in soils is 0 005 part per million (ppm) and 10
PPM, respectively
3.3 Contingency Workscope
If obvious soil contamination extends to the water table, each of the three soil borings will be
' converted to groundwater monitoring wells by advancing the boring 15 feet below static water
level for well installation The wells will be constructed of two inch diameter F480 threaded
PVC screen/casing No glues or solvents will be used. Screen slot size will be 0 010 inch
Sand pack material will be #2 pre-washed silica-sand A minimum two foot bentonite seal will
be placed prior to grouting with cement grout Wells will be installed to a depth of
approximately 60 feet below grade Well completion depth is based on the setting of the well
' screen 15 feet below and 5 feet above the saturated zone This construction will allow for
groundwater fluctuations Actual completion depths will be determined in the field based on
' hydrogeologic conditions encountered. Typical monitoring well completion will be as shown
on Figure 4
Following installation, each monitoring well will be developed using swab and bail techniques
in accordance with RESNA's QA/QC Plan, groundwater development protocol (Appendix III)
The wells will be developed until they are relatively sediment free All water produced during
' well development will be contained 1n DOT 17H drums on-site pending determination of method
for proper disposal
Wellhead elevations and locations will be surveyed to allow lateral and vertical control for data
reduction Surveying will be performed under the direction of a California registered surveyor
or California registered civil engineer
Fluid levels will be obtained from all monitoring wells following development, after fluid levels
' have been allowed to stabilize Levels will be taken using a water level probe capable of
measuring the depth to water with an accuracy of 11100th of a foot Fluid levels will allow
WP012892 TJL 5
