V. LABORATORY ANALYSES
A total of 61 soil samples were forwarded to Priority Environmental Labs of Milpitas,
California, a state certified analytical laboratory, for chemical analyses. Thirty-two soil
samples were selected for the total petroleum hydrocarbons as diesel (TPH-d, modified EPA
method 8015) analysis. Test results indicate no detectable concentrations of diesel in soil
samples from boring locations B-2 through B-5. However, elevated concentrations of diesel
were found in soil samples from boring locations B-1 and B-6 through B-8 at depths between 5
and 20 feet. No diesel was detected in soil samples collected from depths of 25 feet or greater
— during this investigation.
Results of the laboratory analyses are tabulated below. A copy of the laboratory analytical
reports and chain-of-custody records are presented in Appendix B of this report.
TABLE 1 . N.D. stands for "Not Detected" at the analytical reporting limit;
n/a stands for sample "not analyzed"; - stands for no sample available for analysis.
2. Numerical values of TPH-d are in mg/Kg, equivalent to parts per million (ppm).
3. Analytical reporting limit for TPH-d in soil samples is 1 ppm.
4. * stands for sample from a different depth. The two B-6 samples were from depths of
14 and 23 feet. The B-7 sample was from 7 feet.
5
