trapped gas by inversion and tapping. If an air bubble is observed in a vial, that vial will be
reopened and topped off with additional water until no bubbles exist. All samples will be
properly labeled and then placed into a chilled cooler for transportation to a State certified
laboratory for analysis. Strict chain-of-custody protocol will be followed during all phases of
sample handling.
LABORATORY ANALYSIS
For the first two quarters all groundwater samples will be submitted for analysis of TPH-
diesel (EPA method 8515M) plus benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) (EPA
method 802113). All samples will be analyzed on a normal (two week) laboratory turnaround
basis. If the analytical results from those two quarterly samplings show that BTEX levels are
non-detect then the following six quarterly samples will only be analyzed for TPH-diesel.
DATA EVALUATION AND REPORT PREPARATION
A report will be generated to summarize the collected data and present the procedures used
during each quarterly sampling event. All reports will include detailed descriptions of the
methodologies used to collect, analyze and interpret the data and the technical rational for
conclusions drawn.
WASTE MANAGEMENT
All purged groundwater will be temporarily stored on-site in properly labeled, 55-gallon
drums pending the outcome of the laboratory analyses. If the laboratory results indicate that
contamination exists then the materials will be picked up and manifested with the plant's routine
hazardous waste collection. If contamination is not found then the purged water will be disposed
of at the end of each sampling event.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Mr. Robert Aldenhuysen will be project manager for all field activities and will be the primary
contact for RMC. Mr. Louis Schipper, (Registered Geologist) will be responsible for performing
hydrologic, technical and administrative evaluations as well as peer review of the project.
This investigation will begin after receipt of written authorization of this work plan.
