Hammer Lane, Suite C-294 <br /> Stockton, California 95219 <br /> Telephone (209) 952-3481 <br /> Facsimile- (209) 952-9891 <br /> October 31, 1995 <br /> Ms Linda Turkatte <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201-0388 <br /> Subject Site Status Report, Period Ending September 30, 1995 <br /> Former Laidlaw Corporation Facility <br /> 1444 Tillie Lewis Drive, Stockton, California <br /> Dear Ms Turkatte <br /> At the request of Laidlaw Corporation, this letter report is submitted by Ground Zero Analysis, <br /> Inc (Ground Zero) to summarize activities at the above referenced site (Figure 1) during the <br /> period ending September 30, 1995 Activities included monitoring depth to water in site <br /> monitoring wells, purging and sampling wells MW1 through MW6, and analyzing samples for <br /> benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, xylenes (BTEX), and total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br /> (TPHG) <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On June 29, 1990 one 4,000-gallon underground xylene storage tank was removed at the protect <br /> site by SEMCO Corp of Modesto, California Laboratory analyses of soil samples collected <br /> from beneath the tank detected the presence of elevated concentrations of volatile organic <br /> constituents Further investigation was necessary to determine the lateral and vertical extent of <br /> soil and groundwater contamination at the site <br />• To prevent the hydrocarbon impacted material from presenting a continued threat to <br /> groundwater, approximately 750 cubic yards of contaminated soil was excavated from the project <br />
