Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> Subject Quarterly Monitoring Report, July through September 1993 <br /> 40 Laidlaw Corporation, 1444 Tillie Lewis Drive, <br /> Stockton, California, Site Code 2454 <br /> Ms Turkatte <br /> This letter is being submitted by RESNA Industries Inc (RESNA) on behalf of Laidlaw <br /> Corporation to present the results of 1993 third quarter groundwater monitoring and sampling <br /> activities at the above referenced site (Figure 1). <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On June 29, 1990, one 4,000-gallon underground xylene storage tank was removed at the project <br /> site by SEMCO Corp of Modesto, California Laboratory analyses of soil samples collected <br /> from beneath the tank detected the presence of elevated concentrations of volatile organic <br /> constituents. Further investigation was necessary to determine the lateral and vertical extent of <br /> soil and/or groundwater contamination at the project site <br /> To prevent the hydrocarbon impacted material from presenting a threat to groundwater, <br /> approximately 750 cubic yards of contaminated soil was excavated from the protect site on <br /> March 19 and 20, 1991 Subsequent to the collection of verification soil samples, the open tank <br /> pit was backfilled with clean pea gravel to five feet below grade The pea gravel was overlaid <br /> by a fabric liner to prevent infiltration, and the pit was backfilled to grade with clean soil <br /> Prof Disk1QUARTLY\3QR-1993 FNL <br />
