. 1710 Main StreetRECEIVED Working to Restore Nature <br /> Escalon, CA 95320 O C T 0 6 1692 <br /> Phone (209) 838-3507 ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH <br /> FAX (209)838-3509 PERMIT/SERVICES <br /> October 05, 1992 <br /> Ms Linda Turkatte <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 2009 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201 <br /> RE Quarterly Monitoring Report, July through September, 1992, Laidlaw <br /> Corporation, 1444 Tillie Lewis Drive, Stockton, California, Site Code 2454 <br /> Dear Ms Turkatte <br /> This letter is being submitted by RESNA Industries Inc (RESNA) on behalf of Laidlaw <br /> Corporation to present the 1992 third quarter groundwater monitoring and sampling activities <br /> for the above referenced site (Figure 1) <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> On June 29, 1990, one 4,000-gallon underground xylene storage tank was removed at the project <br /> site (Figure 1) by SEMCO Corp of Modesto, California Laboratory analysis of soil samples <br /> collected from beneath the tank detected the presence of elevated concentrations of volatile <br /> organic constituents Further investigation was necessary to determine the lateral and vertical <br /> extent of soil and/or groundwater contamination at the project site <br /> To prevent the hydrocarbon impacted material from presenting a threat to groundwater, <br /> approximately 750 cubic yards of contaminated soils were excavated from the project site on <br /> March 19 and 20, 1991 Subsequent to the collection of verification soil samples, the open tank <br /> pit was backfilled with clean pea gravel to five feet below grade The pea gravel was overlaid <br /> by a fabric liner to prevent infiltration, and the pit was backfilled to grade with clean soil <br /> Excavated soils were stockpiled on site Field activities performed at the subject site during the <br /> excavation, including laboratory results from collected soil samples, are discussed in detail in <br /> RESNA's "Problem Assessment Report" dated May 30, 1991 <br /> QLFARTLYIQR090992 DRF <br />
