OBSERVATION: Hazardous waste containers were observed on-site with incomplete labeling. In the non-ferrous drop off area, one black 55 gallon steel drum containing oily absorbent had a hazardous waste label that was torn. The generator name and the accumulation start date were not legible. In the non-ferrous warehouse, one black 55 gallon steel drum containing oily absorbent was missing a hazardous waste label. In the oil storage area on the ferrous side of the yard: -One black 15 gallon steel drum containing metal oil filters(non-crushed/punctured)had a hazardous waste label that was missing the accumulation start date. -Two black 55 gallon steel drums containing used oil were missing hazardous waste labels. REGULATION GUIDANCE: All hazardous waste containers shall be marked with the following information: the words"Hazardous Waste", name and address of generator, hazardous properties, physical state, composition (contents), accumulation start date CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately label the containers as required for hazardous waste. Provide a corrective action statement and supporting documentation to the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD)within 30 days. This is a repeat violation, Class II.
