Soil samples will be , retained ''from each boring at
L{. intervals of five ten and
fifteen feet.
;Appropriate drilling permits will be obtained ' from the San
Joaquin County Environmental Health Department prior to the
init-iation of the field investigation.
4 . 1. 1 Soil Sampling Procedures: The exploratory soil
borings will be drilled using a Mobile CME 75 drill- 11 rig equipped
with 'a 6-5/8 inch diameter, continuous flight hollow stem auger.
Each boring will be drilled under sup ervision ..of a geologist from
our firm who will note: 1) material„types encountered with depth
according to the Unified Soil Classification System, and 2)
Lls moisture conditions.
Each of the soil samples will. be obtained by driving a 2-1/2
-inch diameter by 1-1/2 foot long split spoon sampler equipped with
three 2-1/2 'inch diameter by 6' inch. long brass sleeves, a minimum
of 18 inches into the soil. The sleeves of each sample will be
retained for laboratory analysis. The ends of the sleeves will be
covered with aluminum foil, capped with plastic fittings, and
sealed with synthetic tape. The sampler will be steam-cleaned
before each sampling event using a high pressure (1, 200 psi) , hat
_ water (200°F) washer. In addition, the auger will be steam cleaned,
prior',to advancing each boring. Upon completion of the drilling
operations, ,each of the soil borings will be backfilled with a
cement-slurry mix.
Fresno Modesto Visalia Bakersfietd
