Page 10
Organic Analyses: , For organic analyses, the following
methods were used:
o Method blanks were run to insure that the glassware and
reagents were free of interference from chemicals that
would invalidate the analyses;
o Standards were ,.prepared using ' the highest purity
reference materials available; and
o Matrix spikes were ..analyzed in duplicate to. validate .the
accuracy and precision of the analytical method.
All analytical instruments are serviced on a regular basis to
insure accurate calibration..'
5.0 RESULTS AND FINDINGS
The results of the RI are summarized. in the following .
subsections.
5. 1 Soil Profiler The soil profile consists of sandy silts #
and coarse-grained sands to a depth of 15 feet- BSG,_ the maximum
F
depth explored. Brown, sandy silt was encountered in soil borings i
r
B-1 through B-4 to a depth of ten to 15' feet BSG. Coarse-grained,
well-graded sand was encountered in, sail borings B-2 and B=3 at ' a
depth of ten feet to 15 -feet BSG. a
The sandy silts encountered at the site were generally firm to
hard, as indicated by modified standard penetration resistance (N-
values) ranging from 30 to .over 50 blows per foot. The sands
Lencountered at the site were hard with N--values of over 50 blows
per foot.
The foregoing is a generalsummary of - the soil conditions
encountered in the soil borings drilled for_ this investigation.
` Fresno Modesto Visalia Bakersfield
