The valley is a nearly flat northwest- <br /> southeast trending alluvial plain; approximately 450 .miles long <br /> and 50 miles wide, extending from the granitic Sierra Nevada Range <br /> on the east to the metamorphic and Sedimentary .Coast Ranges on the <br /> west. The valley is bound on the -north by the Klamath.
