Box 388
Stockton, CA 95201-0388
Subject: Workplan for Subsurface Investigation
733 South Van Buren Street, Stockton, California (Figure 1)
Dear Mr. Rowe:
Ground Zero Analysis, Inc. (Ground Zero) is submitting this workplan for subsurface
investigation at the above referenced property. The purpose of the proposed work is to define
the lateral and vertical limits of soil contamination related to the former underground storage
f tank (UST) and to determine if groundwater has been affected by the release.
r-
Background
On June 9, 1992, one 3,000 gallon gasoline UST was removed from the site (Figure 2). Notes
from PHS/EHD state that the tank was rusty but did not contain holes. No odor or discoloration
was noted in the tank pit, except in native soil beneath the east end of the tank. Two soil
samples were collected from native soil beneath the tank and analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg), benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene , and total xylenes (BTEX).
The eastern soil sample reportedly contained 3,300 parts per `million (ppm) TPHg, 20,ppm
ethylbenzene, and 210 ppm total xylenes. The western sample"did not contain any detectable
TPHg and BTEX.
Proposed Scope of Work
Ground Zero proposes to mark the proposed boring locations and notify Underground Service
Alert (USA), as required by law. Subsequent to utility clearance by USA, Ground Zero will
supervise the drilling of up to four soil borings at the locations marked on Figure 2. Drilling
wbmlworkpkm
f
