- _ Di.Salvo Truck Lines-oEXWP
- June.21, 1995
Pa$e_3.
in SPI at a concentration of 18 mg/l. No—other petroleum hydrocarbon's were-detected at or above the - -
reported laboratory detection limits in:the-groundwater samples collected-from:SPI; SP2 or SP4.
Based on.the results.caf_the soil probe investigation, Condor recomrnended'in-the Site Investigation
Report, dated'March 9; 1995, that the soil contamination-above c static water e'v:lLbe.investigated-and
removed,by over-excavation.' SjCPFIS,EHD concurred with Condor's recommendations, with"the
modification that over-excavation continue below the static water level and that impacted groundwater in
the excavation be removed:
3.0 :PROPOSED SCOPE OF:WORK
Condor will monitor theaver excavation and dewatering of contaminated soil and groundwater
associated with 2 USTs formerly -located at the site. .Previous investigations indicate the lateral, extent of:
soil contamination associated with the USTs encompasses an area approximately 60 feet by 70 feet.,-The
estimated lateral-extent ofsoil,eontammation 1s.shown-on-Figure 2, Appendix A Approximately 2,000 to
2;500 cubic yardsof soil will be removed.during over-excavation
The over-excavation will proceed`in stages..:.The initial stage will involve site preparation to
manage storage of excavated soil This will be followed by the'over-excavation of soil near the south end
of the former}location of TKl to below the static wateraevel.__One groundwater sample will .then-be
collected from the open excavation-to evaluate options for groundwater disposal. Based ori the results of
the laboratory analyses, over=excavation will resume or additional measures will be proposed to dispose of
hydrocarbon impacted water.
3.1 -Site Preparation
...-,-.Site preparationwill include the construction of a containment area capable of storing 200.to.,40
cubic yards of saturated soil. The containment area will:measure approximately 40.feet 6y'54 feet. 'The
area will be covered with a 4 toY8'inch layer of clean soil and soil'berms will -be:constructed on.3 sides of._
the containment area.- Straw bails will be pfaced erid'.to end on top of the berms ' Three-layers of p
f sheeting will be placed on top of the ground surface and secured. A second stockpile area will-b 2
L constructed to contain.soil excavated from above the static water level and suspected of hydrocarbon
- 3 a s ..
contamination. The stockpiled soil will°be placed'on, and covered with plastic sheeting. A third stockpille 5 1
will consist of soil that has not been .impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons .based.-on:field observations and
Li_ .
t CONDOR
