The results of the site meeting were <br /> summarized in a letter from PHS/EHD dated December 5, 1994. The following tasks are <br /> proposed: <br /> Task 1: Purge the excavation pit of excess s irface runoff and groundwater. Recent <br /> rains have resulted in significant runof collecting in the excavation. The depth <br /> to water in.the excavation pit is appro imately,;13.3 feet below grade; the depth <br /> to groundwater in wells MW2 and MW3 are approximately 15.1 and 14.1, <br /> respectively; the depth of the excavation varies from approximately 13 to 17 <br /> feet below the ground surface. At t e direction of PHS/EHD, up to 20,000 <br /> gallons of water purged from the excavation pit will be contained on site in a <br /> portable tank. Disposal options will be evaluated after a sample is collected <br /> from the containerized water and analyzed for the presence of benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX); t tal -petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline <br /> (TPHg),'and'total petroleum-,hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd)', -If,the removal of <br /> �20,OOO-gallons of water'does not•pufg `tile eXcavatiori,pit sufficiently-to enable <br /> backfilling activities to pfoceed;`RES A' will consider•additional:measures such <br /> as importing crushed rock to place ir the bottom of the pit or employing an <br /> additional storage tank. <br /> 1500591L-121494.doc <br />
