As was requested in PHS/EHD corresponder ce dated October 18, 1991 and August 5, 1991,
an additional downgradient monitoring w is required to define the extent of groundwater
contamination. PHS/EHD has requested tb at the work plan for the required groundwater
investigation be submitted by December 9, 1991.
2. Include, in the next quarterly monitoring report, a plan for the proper disposal of purged
groundwater as was requested in the October 18, 1991 PHS/EHD correspondence.
3. The location of wells identified by the Department of Water Resources and referenced in
the Problem Assessment Report, prepared by RESNA/WaterWork dated November 29,1990,
will be submitted with the Addendum to tl Le PAR by January 17, 1992, also requested in
the October 18, 1991 PHS/EHD correspondence.
4. Residual soil contamination as indicated ii Table 3 of the Interim Problem Assessment
Report prepared by RESNA/WaterWork dated December 29, 1989 was discussed. Prior to
a closure request and after remediation is completed, confirmation soil boring samples shall
be performed. The area of the re-excavation which contained residual contamination should
be the primary sampling location.
S. Diesel analysis of MW2 and MW3 may be discontinued if the groundwater gradient remains
southeasterly. Continue diesel analysis of MWI and initiate diesel analysis on MW4 when
the well is installed. Two quarters prior to a closure request, all monitoring wells should
be analyzed for diesel contamination.
6. MW2 and MW3 may be sampled semiannually under the following conditions: MW4 is
drilled and sampled quarterly; the groundwater gradient remains southeasterly; depth to
water is measured quarterly to determine the groundwater gradient; and the wells remain
"non-detect" for petroleum contamination. A minimum of two quarters of sample analysis
of all monitoring wells will be required pri r to the submittal of a request for closure.
A Division of San Joaquin County Healffi Care Services
