Ventura
Stockton, CA
i
Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division, (PHS/EHD)
has completed review of the report dat d July 1, 1991, containing
first and .second 1991 quarterly sampli g results. PHS/EHD has the
following comments to be addressed in your next quarterly report.
1. The investigation of poss 'ble tidal influences on
groundwater depths and grad ent was requested by this
office in a . letter dated. March 12, 1991. . The
fluctuations of groundwater depth measured quarterly
since August, ' 1990 warrant monthly monitoring for a
minimum of one quarter. Please commence monthly
monitoring.
2 . The PHS/EHD letter dated January 5, 1990, requested that
residual contaminants remaining at the conclusion of the
re-excavation attempt be addressed in a Soil Remediation i
Plan. The results of the October, 1989 re-excavation
indicate that petroleum contamination is still present.
a
The leaching potential analy is was done for this site
and indicated that residual contamination exceeded '
acceptable levels. A coy is enclosed for your
information. No action, as a remedial alternative, is
unacceptable.
3 . Groundwater contamination has been monitored for four
quarters. There has not been a significant decrease in
concentrations of petroleum contamination. The increase
of petroleum contamination of groundwater between
quarterly sampling as stated in the July, 1991 report
further suggests that the sou ce of contamination has not
been removed.
