PHS EHD has the following comments for
your considerations.
The results of the second round of sampling for m nitoring MW1 R continue to evidence
groundwater contamination. Please be aware that MW2, MW3, and MW4 have not
been sampled since September 26, 1994 and should be prior to any request for site
certification/closure. Also, note that limited groundwater remedial efforts in MW1 R
could further reduce the levels of contamination d tected.
If however, you chose to continue efforts towards closure without additional remedial
action, please prepare and submit a closure summary report which outlines all historic
site activities and includes a discussion and suppo ing evidence to show that cleanup to
background levels is not achievable using best ava !able technology or is economically
unrealistic, and that closure is warranted.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (2 9) 468-0337.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
Environmental Health Division
v " 1 -
Mary Meays, Senior REHSDiane .
