Farmington Groundwater Recharge Program STC Work Plan—Hammer Site
1.3. Work Plan Approach
The STC WP will outline methods to assess recharge performance at the site by conducting a
series of field data collection and analysis stages. These activities will consist of an initial field
reconnaissance stage, two stages of field data collection separated by one stage of data analysis,
and construction activities (Table 1). Information regarding surface and subsurface
hydrogeology, lithology, and preliminary estimates of infiltration will be gathered for two weeks
during the first field data collection stage (Site Characterization). The second stage of field data
collection includes implementation of the pilot recharge test and will take 6 weeks. Project
duration at the site location will span a period of three months.
1.4. Site Description
The site is located approximately 1/2 mile north of Highway 12 and 750 feet west of North
Treatheway Road in eastern San Joaquin County, California as shown on the attached site map
(Figure 1). Surrounding land use consists primarily of agricultural residential (ag-res)
development including small farms and ranches (Figure 2). The land has previously been used
for grapes (1940 to 1990) and subsequently 7 feet of topsoil was ripped from the site. Since
1993 the site has been used for the production of forest rich oat hay. Surface deposits are
composed of unconsolidated Quaternary sediments. The surface topography is relatively flat
with drainage toward the southwest corner . The site has been laser leveled for agricultural use.
MWH 1-3 July 2004
