PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICES o o
'.SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
U)
J OGI KHANNA M,L).M,P R
it Healr,r Officer
P.O. Box 2009 0 (1601 East Hazelton Avenue • Stockton, CaMmia 95201
(209) 468-3400
OCT 2 3 1991
KENNETH A OLDS SUPERINTENDENT
LAMMERSVILLE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT
16555 WEST VON SOSTEN ROAD
TRACY CA 95376
'RE: Lammersville School IN REPLY REFER TO SITE CODE. 1749
16555 W. Von Sosten Road
Our meeting of Wednesday, October 9 1991, proved to be very beneficial in that all parties will continue
to work cohesively toward our goal of restoring groundwater quality.
4
In summary and in reply to your letter of,,October 2, 1991:
1
San Joaquin County Public HealthServices,Environmental e ivision HD and Central
Valley Regional Water quality Control Board (CVRWQCB) have determined that additional
monitoring wells are needed to further characterize the Larnmersville School underground storage
tank site. The purpose being to better define the groundwater contamination and aid in the
development of a remediation action plan. PHS/EHD evaluation of work plans can be accomplished
within 30 days of receipt. The evaluation process for reports of completed field activity may vary
between 30 - 90 days, which is dependent upon staff workload and the report contents.
Responses from CVRWQCB repres'entativi, Elizabet Thayer, may take considerably longer due to
her prohibitive workload. In order to maintain continuity, however,we do not anticipate the need
to await CVRWQCB comments prior to preparing our response at the conclusion of our evaluation.
CVRWQCB comments will be necessary at the. time of final remediation and during request for site
li
closure.
IF
Groundwater Technology, Inc. (GTI) has submitted a work plan for additional monitoring wells.
GTI will prepare an Interim Remediation Plan to ad ss the groundwater contamination during the
next phase of field activities.
As discussed, prior to the commencement of any corrective action/cleanup activities, a period of
public notice must be given. We will pursue the pos ibility of utilizing the school board as a means
of providing the required public notice.
During the required notice period of 30 days, pilot testing of the proposed remedial action may be
conducted. The compilation of 'pilot test data provides GTI with verification that the proposed
system will perform satisfactorily:
itA
A DiNision 06an Joaquin County licalth C,tiervjccs
I`
