Von Sosten Rd.
Tracy, CA 95376
Our review of your Problem Assessment. Report dated July 16, 1990 is
complete.
No petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the analyzed soil
samples for MW #7A and MW #8A and minor amounts of contamination
were detected for MW #6A. However, during a site inspection on
July 19 , 1990, it was noted that soil sampling was not conducted in
accordance with the LUFT Manual Guidelines. Specifically, the
brass cylinders were not covered with aluminum foil prior to
placement of end caps for samples MW #7A and MW #8A. The brass
cylinders were not placed in the split spoon sampler for MW #6A so
the sample was hand packed. In addition, odor and discoloration
were noted during the sampling. Therefore, the soil sample results
are not recognized as being representative of the subsurface
conditions.
Additional soil sampling will be necessary to delineate the extent
of lateral petroleum hydrocarbons in the soil.
A work plan for the continued soil contamination characterization
should be submitted to our office y November 21, 1990. Also,
quarterly monitoring of the wells is to continue with the next
sampling to be performed in September. A 48 hour notification is
required prior to any field activity , including water sampling.
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
