Von Sosten Rd.
Tracy, CA
San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division
(PHS/EHD) has reviewed the "Quarterly Report - June 1995" prepared by Advanced
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (AGE) for the above referenced site. Some corrections to
the text and tables of the report are required and PHS/EHD has discussed these
corrections with AGE.
In addition, PHS/EHD has reviewed information from former investigations of the
site. The petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil excavated during removal of the
gasoline tank in 1986 was later used to fill that tank excavation. The results
of the soil sample obtained onsJune 26, 1995 from P3 at 7 feet below grade show
that the soil is still contaminated and requires remediation. The soil sample
collected at 10 feet below grade in the former tank pit in December 1986 also
evidenced high levels of soil contamination at that depth. PHS/EHD concurs with
the recommendation in the ,,Pune 1995 report that the contaminated soil be
excavated and treated on site or disposed of off site. Please submit a work plan
for this interim corrective action. PHS/Ewill conduct public notification
prior to approving the work.
If the contaminated soil is excavated from the former tank pit, the need for
further remedial action will be based on the results of the groundwater samples
collected after that phase of work.
If you have any questions contact Margaret agorio at (209) 468-3449.
Donna Heran, RENS, Director
Environmental Health Division
Margaret Lagorio, Lead Senior REHS Diane M.
