San Joaquin County Pur,;ic Health Services, Enviroimental Health
Divislon(EHD) had requested,In a letter dated October 1,19-0,that the soil near the three monitorina wells
be resampled and analyzed to confirm the soil character!--ation.
A Groundwater Technology, Inc. geologist collecte'r the three soil samples using ;rand-auger and impact-
sampler techniques on March 6, 1991. The sampling locations MW-6R, MW-7R and MW-8R were within 5
feet from MVY-6, MW-7 and MW.8 (Figure 1). A 2.5-Inch outside-diameter hand auger was used to bore
down to a depth of approximately 5 feet below grade at each sampling location.
_ A brass tube,2 inches in diameter by 6 inches long, was Inserted In an impactsampler and driven into the
soil at the bottom of each hole to collect a soil sample. Sample depths were 5-5.5 feet in MW-6R and MW-
7R,and 6-6.5 feet in MW-8R. The brass tubes were capped with aluminum foil and plastic caps, sealed with
duct tape, labeled, and placed on Ice in an insulated container to preserve the samples during transport to
G T EL Environmental laboratories, Inc. (GTEL), In Concord, California for analysis. The samples were
accompanied by a chain-of-custody farm during transport to the laboratory.
The hand auger, Impact sampler and brass tubes were washed with industrial detergent and rinsed with
distilled water prior to collecting each sample. Each Huger hole was backfilled with neat cement to 0.5 foot
below grade.
The soil samples were analyzc-d for benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene(BTEX),and total petroleum
hydrocarbons-as-gasollne(TPH-G) using EPA methods 5030/8020 and modified 8015. As recorded in the
attached laboratory report, no BTEX nor TPH-G components were detected In the three soil samples.
This work step completes the requirements for the Problem Assessment Report(PAR)dazed July 16,1990.
Offices rhmuyhnut the f;:s.:Canada and Or tyseas
1A®i
