4 0 FINDINGS
4.1 Groundwater Elevation and Gradient Direction
' The relative elevation of groundwater in each well was calculated by subtracting the
groundwater depth from the surveyed casing elevations, casing elevations N%ere surveyed
relative to MW-1, which was assigned an arbitrary elevation of 100 00 feet (Table 1) On
' October 13, 1994, groundwater depth at the site ranged from 8 to 9 feet below ground
surface (bgs) A 002 foot increase in groundwater depth (decrease of groundwater
elevation) was detected between the October and No%ember samplings
' Figure 3 illustrates the relative ground-%N ate r elevations at the site, based upon data collected
dunng the October 1994 sampling Groun&,ater flow in the area is north-northwest, "'Ith
' a small flexure to the west evident bet,.-%een MW-7 and MW-6 The overall north-northwest
trend is consistent with regional groundwater flow in the area
4.2 Laboratory Analysis of Groundwater Samples
Duuing the October 1994 sampling no total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline) -,N ere
detected in any of the sampled ells Benzene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were detected only
in the sample from MW-1 at concentrations of 2 1 ppb, 15 ppb and 1 4 ppb, respectively
Low concentrations of toluene were detected in samples from MW-1 (0 52 ppb), MW-6
(0 87 ppb), MW-7 (1 1 ppb), 1.1W-9 (0 63 ppb) and MW-10 (0 89 Ppb)
During the No%ember sampling, TPH as gasoline, benzene and xylenes v eie detected in
MW-2 at concentrations of 150 ppb, 1 9 ppb and 3 7 ppb, respectively Low concentrations
of toluene were detected in MW-2, I1IW-3, i1IW-4 and MW-S at concentrations of 0 95 ppb,
0 93 ppb, 0 78 ppb and 0 54 ppb, i espectr.ely
5.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
5.1 Hydrocarbon Impacted Ground.+ater
Prior to the October and November 1994 samplings, the last time that wells at the site were
sampled was on January 29, 1992 DUI ing the Januaiy 1992 sampling, TPH as gasoline was
detected only in samples from MW-2 and MW-6 at concentrations of 2,400 ppb and 14,000
ppb, respectively (well MW-1 was not sampled) Benzene, ethylbenzene and xylenes were
detected only in the sample fiom MW-6 at concentrations of 1,200 ppb, 480 ppb and 740
ppb, respectively Toluene was detected in samples from MW-6 (160 ppb) and MW-7 (0 51
Ppb)
Geologwl Anda Sc ma Inc 6
SC-94 07 1001 WAAMMERS"UX QR1/r2 94
