WORK PLAN FOR MONITORING WELL (MW-8) INSTALLATION
2130 WEST WASHINGTON STREET FACILITY
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
SIERRA-PACIFIC PROJECT NO. 95-119.02
1.0 INTRODUCTION
Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants, Inc. (Sierra-Pacific) has been requested to install a
shallow monitoring well at 2130 West Washington Street, Stockton on behalf of Cargill,
Incorporated (Cargill). The 2130 West Washington Street property is owned by the Port of
Stockton (Port) and currently leased to Cargill's Molasses Liquid Products Division. Figures
1 and 2 show the location of the Port of Stockton and the Washington Street project site.
2.0 PURPOSE OF MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
A shallow monitoring well (MW-8) will be installed in the northeast corner of the subject site
to replace a monitoring well (MW-5)which was decommissioned on 25 August 1995 to facilitate
the placement of aboveground tank foundations and driveways. The replacement well is being
installed to gather hydrologic information which can be used to: (1) determine if there are
periodic variations in the direction of ground-water flow, (2) characterize possible feed product
concentrations in the uppermost saturated zone, and (3) provide information on possible up-
gradient sources of nitrogen.
3.0 SCOPE OF PROPOSED WORK
A licensed C-57 drilling contractor will be contracted to install the new well near the northeast
corner of the property (Figure 3), and Sierra-Pacific will oversee the installation and
development of the well, and continue quarterly monitoring. Based on information developed
during previous soil investigations and well installations, the well boring will be advanced to 20
feet below ground surface (bgs). Well screen will be placed over a 15-foot interval, from 5.0
to 20.0 feet bgs. Contract workers will have current 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste training
certificates.
Sierra-Pacific Groundwater Consultants 1
