Activity Cut-Sheets <br /> T FAMILY - SUPPORT <br /> Storage of Hazardous Materials (Working Stock) <br /> OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES (CONT'D) <br /> • Install safeguards to prevent accidental releases such as overflow protection devices, automatic <br /> shutdown transfer pumps, protection guards around tanks and piping to prevent vehicle or forklift <br /> damage-..-Limltaccess-ta unauthorized persons. <br /> • Review Safety Data Sheets with personnel on proper labeling requirements, spill cleanup <br /> procedures and disposal of hazardous materials. <br /> • Regularly inspect and maintain hazardous materials storage areas to minimize exposure to <br /> stormwater. Use the Daily/Weekly/Monthly inspection form. Store hazardous materials on <br /> impervious surfaces if possible. <br /> • Maintain spill cleanup materials near the storage area. Cleanup spills or leaks immediately if it is <br /> safe to do so. <br /> • Store used lead acid batteries in spill or secondary containment. All cracked batteries shall be <br /> stored in spill containment. <br /> Regular Maintenance of Outdoor Container Storage Area <br /> • Inspect storage areas as required. Ensure all containers are properly labeled, with lids securely <br /> fastened, and in good condition. <br /> • If a container is corroded or leaking, contact the District Hazardous Material Coordinator or <br /> Manager to have the waste or material transferred to a new container by trained and qualified <br /> personnel.
