During the test run of sauce
operations this past winter, QAP performed some limited wastewater
sampling. The average results from this sampling are as follows:
Flow, gpd -9200
SS, mg/l 243
BOD, mg/l 706
TKN, mg/l 6
E.C. , umhos/cm 375
We performed an analysis of hydraulic and BOD loading rates to the land
application areas using the conservative assumptions of 40,000 gpd flow and
an average BOD concentration of 1,286 mg/1 (same as canning season) . The
results of this analysis are shown in Table 1. As can be seen from the
table, the 42 acres of land (Fields 1, 2, and 3) near the plant are more
than adequate for winter operations.
During a rainstorm, wastewater can be stored in the storage reservoir for a
few days until standing water is gone from the fields. We do not
anticipate that odors would result from this practice during the winter
months because of the much cooler temperatures and therefore lower biologi-
cal reaction rates as compared to summer. In addition, fields 1 and 2 have
runoff return systems so that they could be used for wastewater application
soon after rainstorms without any danger of runoff leaving the fields.
l
I
NOLTE and ASSOCIATES
Engineers / Planners / Surveyors
1730 1 Street, Suite 100, Sacramento, CA 95814 Tel: (916) 446-5020 FAX No. (916) 446-0118
I
