Patrick Hughes of American Moulding and
Millwork Company(AMM) at 2801 North West Lane in Stockton. The Work Plan proposes to
collect soil and groundwater samples from six borings, groundwater samples from six borings,
and 20 soil samples from the stockpiles for various analyses to confirm previous reports of
contamination and to determine if contamination above regulatory levels is present.
We have the following comments on the Work Plan:
1. Section 3.0, Figures 3 and 4 of the Work Plan show a total of 12 proposed borings.
Section 7.0 of the Work Plan, which lists the proposed laboratory analyses, only discusses
10 borings and the 20 soil samples from the stockpiles. AMM must provide a table that
lists the number of borings, proposed locations, type of sample, and proposed analyses for
each.
2. The Work Plan does not discuss how many soil samples will be collected per boring, how
many soil samples will submitted for laboratory analysis per boring, or what will
determine which samples are submitted to the laboratory. AMM must provide this
information.
3. AMM needs to submit samples from all "wash-down" areas for volatile organic
compound analysis.
The Work Plan is approved provided that AMM provides the requested information above by
26 October 2001. By 14 December 2001,please submit an investigation report prepared in
general accordance with the attached Items To Be Included In A Site Assessment Report.
