1
29 January 2002
' AGE-NC Project No. 98-0466
Page 13 of 25
' • Soil boring P137 was advanced near the active septic leach field located just west of the
Millwork Building to a depth of 60 feet bsg;
' • Soil boring PB8 was advanced near the former wash-down area located north of the
Millwork Building to a depth of 60 feet bsg;
• Soil boring PB9 was advanced between the former wash-down ax ea south ofthe Cover Plant
and the former teepee structure to a depth of 60 feet bsg;
• Soil boring PB 10 was advanced near the drain sump located no rth of the 44x120 Storage
' Building to a depth of 60 feet bsg;
• Soil boring PB 11 was advanced north of the burn pits located at le northern portion of the
property to a depth of 60 feet bsg; and
• Soil boring PB 12 was advanced adjacent to the north storm water basin to a depth of 60 feet
' bsg.
Soil boring locations are shown on Figures 3 and 4.
The field work was conducted as outlined in the AGE-prepared, RWQCB-approved Site
Contamination Work Plan and work plan addendum dated 11 September 001 and 23 October 2001,
respectively.
1
3.1. DRILLING
' Soil probe borings were advanced utilizing a truck-mounted CME 75 drill rig equipped with
8.25-inch diameter hollow stem augers. All soil borings were abandon under observation by a
' representative from the PHS-EHD, by backfilling to surface grade with I ortland type PH cement.
3.2. SOIL SAMPLE COLLECTION
' Soil samples were collected ahead of the drill bit using a California mo ' ed split-spoon sampler
loaded with three pre-cleaned 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves. The sampler was advanced using a
140-pound hammer. The number of blows required to advance the sampler over each 6-inch
' increment of the 18-inch sampling interval was recorded on the boring logs. Sampling equipment
was washed in an Alconox solution and rinsed with water prior to each sampling run to avoid cross-
contamination.
1
Advanced Ge Kuiromnental,Snc.
1
