29 January 2002
1 AGE-NC Project No. 98-0466
' Water Action Level (AL) for Contaminants of Historic Interes of 100 µg/1. Soil samples
were not collected in the boring. The result indicates that group I water has been impacted.
AGE infers from all known formaldehyde occurances on the sit , this is probably part of a
' relatively small plume of impacted ground water related to wash down activities in the area,
it is inferred to be of limited mass and limited extent; however, additional investigation of
the area may be warranted.
No other analytes of concern were detected in the groundwater sample c ollected from boring PB 10.
' Based on the data collected from the former burn pit and north storm w ter basin area, AGE finds:
• TPH-d was detected in the water sample collected from boring I B 12, advanced adjacent to
the north storm water basin, at a concentration of 51 µg/1.
• Formaldehyde was detected at concentrations of 120 µg/1 and 1 0 µg/1 in the ground water
samples collected from borings PB 11 and PB 12, respectively. T ie detected concentrations
are slightly above the AL of 100 µg/1.
• Dissolved chromium was detected in the groundwater samples c Ilected from borings PB 11
and PB12 at concentrations of 0.026 mg/l and 0.095 mg/l, respectively. The detected
concentration of chromium in the water sample collected from PB12 is above the MCL of
0.05 mg/1.
• Dissolved lead was detected in the ground water sample collec ed from boring PBI I at a
' concentration of 0.032 mg/l, above the AL and the United States Environmental Protection
Agency's National Primary Drinking Water Regulation of 0.015 mg/l.
' Ground water has been impacted by hydrocarbons, formaldehyde and dissolved chromium;there are
multiple potential sources in the area - the burn pits, the northern storm water pond and the
Millworks Building. Further investigation of the occurrences is warr ted. No other analytes of
' concern were detected in the groundwater samples collected from the burn pit and north storm water
basin areas.
t Metals concentrations detected in soil samples from borings PB 1, PB2 and PB9 were at or near
background levels. No other analytes of concern were detected in soil and ground water samples
collected from near the former Cover Plant wash-down area/former teepee structure (PB9).
1 SVOCs,VOCs,phenols, copper, nickel and zinc were not detected above laboratory reporting limits
in any of the soil and ground water samples analyzed.
' The concentrations of detected analytes do not appear to pose a significant threat to ground water
quality. Furthermore, with exception of material remaining in the bum pits, the soil piles located on
the nothern portion of the property and the former teepee incinerator area on the southern portion of
Advanced GeoFnviron=ntst Inc.
