Mr. Bruce Dickerman
May 21, 1991
Page 3
For the purposes of this proposal, we estimate that one soil sample from each boring,
showing the highest HNu reading will be analyzed for TPH/G and benzene, ethyl benzene,
toluene and xylene (BETX) using Modified EPA Methods 8015 and 8020, respectively. If
significant soil contamination is encountered in a borehole, the sample showing the highest
HNu reading and the first sample encountered below the zone of apparent soil
contamination may be analyzed.
Data Analysis and Reporting
A report will be prepared after laboratory analyses have been received and evaluated. The
report will describe the field work conducted at the site, soil conditions, and analytical
results. The report will include necessary supporting materials and graphics including: a site
plan, permit copies, boring logs, laboratory reports, and chain-of-custody sheets.
The results of the environmental assessment will be used to assess the potential for
significant soil contamination. Due to the presence of the doughnut shop over the majority
of the former service station, it may not be possible at this time to determine the vertical
and lateral extent of potential soil contaminants. Our conclusions regarding the presence
and estimated extent of potential soil contaminants will be presented in the final report
along with our recommendations for additional assessment, if warranted.
SCHEDULE
This supplemental assessment can be completed within approximately five to six weeks from
the workplan approval. Boring permit applications will be submitted with the workplan.
Field preparations, field work and laboratory analyses will take about three weeks to
complete. A draft report can be submitted for review within approximately two weeks of
our receipt of laboratory analytical results.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Mr..Mark Miller
at (415) 499-1422.
Sincerely,
4
Mark I. Miller, C.E.G. 1540 Thomas C. Holmes, R.G. 4693
Senior Environmental Geologist Principal
