4.1.5 Volatile Or ani mound
Acetone is the only Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) detected in Parcel III soil samples.
Acetone was detected at 180 µg/Kg in the capillary fringe sample collected from MW-4 (MW-4B/10.0).
Comprehensive laboratory data reports are included in Appendix B.
:>_''! VOCs were not detected in samples collected from near surface soils. Acetone is occasionally
used as a laboratory solvent and is commonly used in the paint and plastic industry.
The State of California Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Toxic Substances
j Control (DTSC) adopts the numerical standards set under RCRA for identifying and listing materials as
hazardous waste in Title 22 of the California Code of Regulations (CCR). The numerical standard for
acetone in the Lists of RCRA Hazardous Wastes from Nonspecific Sources is 590 'Ug/Kg (22 CCR,
66261.31). The detection of acetone in the capillary fringe in Parcel IR is below the numerical standard
J( for hazardous waste as defined in Title 22.
4.1.6 Semi-volatile Oreanic Compounds
tu_
Semi-volatile Organic Compounds (SVOCs) were detected in all four soil samples submitted for
analysis from Parcel III. SVOC detections are presented in Table 3. Comprehensive laboratory
analytical data reports are included as Appendix B.
i
J
I
i
l
SAC29.013
12 December 20, 1991
