Marley Cooling Tower Company -3- 28 November 1990
14 November 1990 Meeting Minutes
Because the expansion of the treatment system will be changing the water quality of the
effluent, it was agreed that the NPDES permit will be modified to continue with
toxicity testing using fathead minnows and to include additional testing using
Ceriodaohnia. The frequency of toxicity tests using fathead minnows will be reduced
from monthly to quarterly, due in part to the large historical record of passing
toxicity tests. The frequency of the toxicity tests using Ceriodaohnia will be
monthly, based on 24-hour composite samples. It was agreed that the monthly tests
would continue during the first and second expansions of the treatment system, but that
once the second and final expansion of the treatment system is implemented, that the
frequency of all toxicity testing should be reduced assuming that no instream toxicity
is found.
QUARTERLY MONITORING REPORT SUBMITTALS
The content of the quarterly monitoring report submittals was reviewed. MCTC had
requested that the submittal of all the Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC)
laboratory sheets be eliminated from each quarterly report, but that any laboratory
QA/QC sheet would be made available upon request. It was agreed that the QA/QC sheet
did not need to be included in the April and October Quarterly Monitoring Reports and
that these reports would only contain water level maps, "chemographs" (concentration
versus time graphs) for the anomalous data and brief summaries on the anomalous data
and laboratory QA/QC. The January and July Quarterly Monitoring Reports will continue
to be submitted in the current format which includes the laboratory QA/QC sheets. The
Annual Monitoring Reports will be submitted with all the supporting information,
including all of the chemographs for all wells.
CKW:cw
