This repair was
completed following our telephone communication on 1 -18-07 informing URS that no permit was
required for this repair work.
After locating the well, URS removed the cement seal from about a foot of the four-inch casing.
The casing was then cut off square, leaving about six-inches protruding above the cement. A
section of four-inch schedule 40 PVC pipe was then pla ed on the existing casing, with a tight fit
and about four inches of overlap. No glue was used. The joint was then sealed with concrete, and
an expanding gasket plug placed in the top of the casing. The top of the casing currently extends
about one to 1-1/2 feet above the general ground surface, thus the repaired joint is approximately
2-1/2 to 3 feet bgs.
Next week URS will complete the repair by constructing the surface completion, which will consist
of a flush vault set in concrete The "discovery" pit will e backfilled and compacted. Compaction
will be done in six-inch lifts using a vibratory foot compactor. Prior to backfill, a construction tube
will be placed around the casing to provide an annular space. This space will be filled with concrete
to provide a continuous seal in which the surface vault Will be set.
Prior to conducting the fourth quarter groundwater monitoring round, the well will be redeveloped
to remove sediment which may have entered the casing.
Attached are photos showing the work on the well which was completed on 10-18-07.
Following completion of the well repair, URS will prepar a brief letter report of the work.
Regards,
Tony Mindling
Senior Hydrogeologist
URS Corporation Americas
2870 Gateway Oaks Drive Suite 300
Sacramento, California 95833
email: tony_mindling..@ rscorp..com_
tel: 916.679.2293
fax:916,679.2900
cell: 916.812.8037
This e-mail anti any attachments are confidential. If you receive this message in error or are i m the intended recipient.you should not retain, distrihutc,
disclose or use any of this information artd you should destroy the e-niaif and arty attachments or copies,
10/24/2007
