HAZARD EVALUATION
The following substance(s) or hazards are known at the: following concentrations:
SUBSTATICES.INi OL' ED. CONCENTRATIONS.. .
Xylenes 47mg/kg in soil
Ethylbenzene 2.8nig/kg in soil
Toluene 0.12mg/kg in soil
Gasoline - 450 ing/kg in soil
Diesel 7,30 mg/kg in soil
The primary hazards of each are identified as follows:
1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic
petroleum hydrocarbon-like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water.
Exposure to these materials in excess of reconmLended exposure limits can cause mild eye,
nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system.
Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness,
dizziness, and loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline(BTE&X etc.)are known
or suspected carcinogens.
The additional potential hazards include: Sli -tri -fall hazards. noise heayy equipment i.e. mobile
drill rig), vibration hazards, traffic hazards etc.
5.0.
