detections were qualified by the laboratory, which indicated that the ethanol quantification may be suspect due to hydrocarbon interference ' 32 Groundwater Levels Groundwater was measured to be approximately 39 feet below ground surface on August 25, 2000 Water levels decreased approximately four feet between May and August, 2000 Water levels have increased approximately 29 feet since 1990 The direction of groundwater flow in August 2000 was variable, with the strongest component oriented towards the north-northeast, as illustrated in Figure 3 Variations in the direction of groundwater flow between 1987 and 2000 are presented in Figure 3 Flow directions appear to have shifted from west in 1987 to the east in 1995, and are now generally in the direction of north-northeast to northeast 3.3 Analytical Results TPH-D groundwater results for samples collected on August 25, 2000 have been compiled with previous data in Table 3 TPH-D was not reported in samples collected from all seven wells Results of analyses for fuel additives are presented in Table 4 Ethanol was reported in samples collected from two monitoring wells at concentrations of 6 9 mg/L (DMW-1) and 5 5 mg/L (DMW-3) However, laboratory review indicated that the reported concentrations may be inaccurate due to hydrocarbon interference The only other fuel additive reported in groundwater samples was 1,2-dichloroethane, which was reported at three locations at concentrations of 9 7 ug/L (DMW-2), 13 ug/L (DMW-5), and 28 ug/L (DMW-6) 40 FUTURE ACTIVITIES Quarterly groundwater monitoring of wells DMW-1 through DMW-7 will be continued during the fourth quarter of 2000 in order to monitor trends in water level elevations and TPH-D In addition, water samples will be also be analyzed for the fuel additives included during the third quarter monitoring The fuel additive list will be expanded to include ethylene dibromide and methanol, as requested by the PHS/EHD ' 5 J WFPIREPORT\Q3-2000 DOC
