Jack Kemp INFO:
FROM: Sacramento QA/QC Group FILE. 15884-017-044
DATE: November 8, 1999 SITE: American Forest Products
SUBJECT: Summary of Data Validation for Quanterra Project G9I090255
A check for data completeness (Completeness Check) was performed by the Sacramento QA/QC
Group on Quanterra Project G91090255 for the American Forest Products Project The report
contains analytical data for eight aqueous samples DMW-1, DMW-2, DMW-3, DMW-4,
DMW-5, DMW-6, DMW-7, and DMW-60 Samples DMW-6 and DMW-60 represent a field
duplicate pair The samples were collected on September 9, 1999 and submitted to the
laboratory for analysis of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons-Diesel (EPA 8015M) The laboratory
report was received by the Sacramento QA/QC group on October 11, 1999 Additional data was
received from Quanterra on November 2, 1999
The data were reviewed in accordance vtiith analytical methods outlined in EPA SW-846 The
data were evaluated based on the following parameters
✓ Data Completeness
✓ Holding Times
✓ Blanks
✓ Surrogates
✓ Laboratory Control Samples
✓ Matrix Spike/Matrix Spike Duplicates
✓ Compound Identification and Quantification
The following presents an overview of the Completeness Check
• All analyses were performed as per the chain-of-custody records
• All holding times were analyzed within the method-specified holding times
• Although no contaminants were detected in the TPH-Diesel range in associated method
blanks, a hydrocarbon pattern outside the TPH-Diesel range was observed to be present
in all samples including laboratory QC samples Since these patterns were not
quantitated as TPH-Diesel and are apparently laboratory artifacts, qualification of the
data was not warranted on this basis
0 Surrogate recoveries for the LCS and samples DMW-6, DMW-7, and DMW-60
exceeded the upper QC limit Although the high recoveries may be attributed to
hydrocarbons present in these samples, the reported results should be considered
estimated
' A 1SACVAL08 713
