San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> November 1, 1994 <br /> Page 1 <br /> 1.0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work proposed for this investigation is designed to assess possible changes in <br /> subsurface conditions, and to provide a monitoring well in close proximity downgradient from the <br /> former waste oil tank This scope has been prepared in response to comments from the PHS-EHD <br /> regarding the Draft Amended Closure Request (Dames & Moore, August, 1994) <br /> 1 1 Permitting and„Utihty Clearance <br /> Dames & Moore will obtain San Joaquin County well installation permits for the proposed <br /> monitoring well and soil boring Dames & Moore will mark the boring location and contact <br /> Underground Service Alert (USA) to obtain clearance of underground utilities prior to advancement <br /> of the borings Since some utility companies do not mark their underground utilities on private <br /> property, Dames & Moore will hire a subcontractor, if necessary, to locate underground utilities <br /> within the property boundaries of the site <br /> 1 2 Soil Investigation <br /> To assess possible changes in subsurface soil conditions, A—migtte soil boring will be <br /> completed adjacent to previous soil boring SB-15, in the vicinity of the former waste oil tank to the <br /> west of the former maintenance shop The results from this soil investigation will be compared to <br /> the analytical data from SB-15 analyzed in 1988 This soil boring will located within the area of soil <br /> remediation in the vicinity of the former 500-gallon waste oil tank where soils were excavated to a <br /> depth of 26 feet bgs <br /> The soil boring will be drilled to a depth of approximately 80 feet below ground surface (bgs) <br /> at the location shown on Figure A-1 Soil samples will be collected from the boring for stratigraphic <br /> analysis at minimum five foot intervals and at significant changes in lithology, and will be logged <br /> using the Unified Soil Classification System Selected soil samples will be submitted for laboratory <br /> analysis, as described in Section 6 1 5 <br /> r <br /> SAC128 18 Page-1 DAmEs & MoonE <br />
