San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division
November 1, 1994
Page 7
measured using a calibrated container and will contain not more than seven gallons of water per bag
of cement The grout will be placed by tremmie method The well casing will be cut-off dust below
ground surface, fitted with an air-tight cap, and enclosed in a steel sleeve with a locking lid The
locking steel sleeves will be encased in a water-tight metal vault box with a lid and finished with
concrete a few inches higher than the surrounding land surface to route any surface runoff away from
the well The well elevation and locations will be surveyed by a California licensed surveyor The
surveyed elevation will be recorded on the final boring log
Well Development
Approximately 24 hours after completion of well construction the well will be developed
Remove fine-grained sediment from the well casing and the filter pack surrounding the screen such
that water produced by the well is relatively sediment-free Development will be performed by
surging with a surge block and either pumping with a submersible pump or bailing with a stainless
steel bailer
A minimum of 10 casing volumes of water will be removed from the well during
development If, when 10 volumes have been removed, the produced water still contains sediment,
development will continue until relatively sediment-free water is produced or to a point at which
water clarity cannot be improved If relatively sediment-free water is produced prior to removing
10 volumes from the well, development will continue until the 10 casing volume mark is attained
A well development log will be maintained by the Dames & Moore Geologist Development water
will be contained in 55-gallon barrels and stored on-site until analytical results are received
2 3 Groundwater Sampling Procedures
Following development of the new monitoring well, groundwater samples will be collected
from the five monitoring wells in accordance with applicable sampling protocols, details of which
are presented below in the following sections
sAC128 18 Page-7 DAMES & MooRE
