URS <br /> August 1, 2006 <br /> San Joaquin Public Health Service <br />' Environmental Health Division <br /> 304 E Weber Avenue,third Floor <br /> Stockton,California 95202 <br /> Attention Mr Jeffrey Wong <br /> Re: 2005 Groundwater Monitoring Report <br /> Former American Forest Products Facility <br /> Stockton,California <br />' URS Project No. 17322736 <br /> Dear Mr Wong <br />' On behalf of Mr William Bergvail, consultant for American Forest Products Company LP, URS <br /> Corporation Americas(URS) is submitting this letter report that includes results of quarterly groundwater <br /> monitoring conducted during 2005 at the Former American Forest Products Facility, Stockton, California <br /> (Figures 1 and 2) Groundwater monitoring was conducted, and this report produced, following the <br /> requirements presented in a letter from Mr Jeffrey Wong of the San Joaquin County Public Health <br /> Service(PHS/EHD)dated Apnl 16, 2003 <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> Water levels were measured and groundwater samples were collected from site monitoring wells DMW-1 <br /> through DMW-9 on March 22, June 20, September 30, and December 22, 2005 Well construction details <br /> for all of the wells are included in Table 1 Field records and chain-of-custody forms are included in <br /> Appendix A A Data Validation Summaries and analytical laboratory reports are included in Appendix B <br /> FIELD METHODS <br /> Static water levels (Table 2) were measured prior to initiating sampling activities using an electric water <br /> level sounder <br /> Prior to sampling, the wells were purged to ensure representativeness of the water samples A 2-inch- <br /> diameter Grundfos submersible pump or bailer were used for purging Purge rates ranged from 1 to 4 <br /> gpm Field parameters (temperature, electrical conductivity, pH and turbidity) were monitored during <br /> purging, and purging was continued until the field parameters stabilized and a minimum of three casing <br /> volumes of groundwater had been removed Purging data were entered on Field Record of Water <br /> Sampling Forms (Appendix A) Before and after purging each well, the submersible pump was <br /> decontaminated by steam cleaning, washing in an Alconox solution, rinsing with fresh water, and final <br /> rinsing with distilled water <br /> URS Corporation <br /> Crown Corporate Center <br /> 2870 Gateway Oaks Drive,Suite 300 <br /> Sacramento CA 95833 D\Q405UZEVIEW PACKAGE12005 GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT-TEXT DOC <br /> Tel 916 679 2000 <br /> Fax 916 679 2900 <br />
