(Ground Zero) on behalf of Sunnyside <br /> Produce to present a proposed workplan to conduct a subsurface investigation at the subject siil e <br /> (Figure 1). <br /> !i <br /> .i <br /> ii <br /> The general scope of work will consist of drilling and sampling nine soil borings in the vicinity of the <br /> former underground storage tanks (UST) to investigate the extent of subsurface soil and <br /> groundwater contamination. Five of the proposed borings will be advanced using the direct push <br /> method. The remaining four borings will be advanced through the use of a hand auger. One discrete <br /> groundwater sample will be collected from each of the five proposed direct push borings to <br /> determine the lateral extent of groundwater impact. i Following completion of the work, Ground <br /> Zero will submit a technical report that summarizes the'!methods and results of the investigation. <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> f ; <br /> The site is currently operating as convenience store. A limited subsurface assessment was performed <br /> by Ground Zero on December 3 and December 4, 1996- Analysis of the samples collected during the <br /> assessment indicated that soil and groundwater in the vicinity of the USTs were impacted by <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons. Soil and groundwater analytical results from .the December 19,96 <br /> subsurface investigation are summarized in Table 1_ Sample locations are shown on Figure 2. !I <br /> Oil Equipment Services (OES) subsequently removed one 10,000-gallon diesel and two 10,000- <br /> gallon gasoline USTs along with associated plumbing on January 21, 1999 under permit from S'an <br /> Joaquin County Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD).
