i <br /> I GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS, INC. <br /> I 1714 Main Street <br /> Escalon, California 95320 <br /> Telephone (209)838-9888 <br /> IFacsunile (209)838-9883 <br /> IAugust 9, 2001 <br /> Mr Harlan Knoll <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> 304 East Weber Avenue, Third Floor <br />' Stockton, CA 95202 <br /> Subject Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation Report <br /> Sunnyside Produce, 8960 West Walnut Grove Rd, Thornton California <br /> Dear Mr Knoll <br /> IGround Zero Analysis, Inc (Ground Zero) submits this report on behalf of Barnyard Corporation <br /> to summarize the installation of four groundwater-monitoring wells, the analytical results of soil <br /> I and groundwater samples collected from the wells, to present the results of a sensitive receptor <br /> survey conducted in the vicinity of the subject site, and to present the results of confirmation soil <br /> samples collected from the stockpiled soil generated during interim remedial actions The work <br /> was conducted pursuant to San Joaquin County Public Health Services/Environmental Health <br /> r Division (PHS/EHD) directives dated February 16, 2000 and January 9, 2001 to confirm the efficacy <br /> of interim corrective action measures and evaluate current groundwater conditions beneath the site <br /> I1.0 SITE BACKGROUND <br /> 1.1 Site Description and Previous Investigations <br /> The site is located at 8960 W Walnut Grove Road in Thornton, California The site is bounded <br /> on the north by Walnut Grove Road, on the west by Highway I-5 and its off-ramp, on the south <br /> by undeveloped land, and on the east by low-income housing The site location is shown on <br /> Figure 1 The site was formerly operated as a convenience store and retail gasoline station, which <br /> utilized one 10,000-gallon underground storage tank (UST) to store diesel fuel and two 10,000-gallon <br /> USTs to store unleaded gasoline <br /> A limited subsurface assessment conducted by Ground Zero in December 1996 provided evidence <br /> that petroleum hydrocarbons had impacted soil and groundwater beneath the site The three USTs <br /> and associated piping were removed under permit from PHS/EHD on January 21, 1999 Analytical <br /> results of side wall soil samples and a groundwater sample collected from the UST excavation <br /> • indicated that elevated levels of petroleum hydrocarbons were present in the soil and groundwater <br /> Additional investigation was required by PHS/EHD <br /> G 1Data1GROUNDZE\Barnyard-ManseilReportslWELLRPT doc <br />
