i 0 <br /> GROUND ZERO ANALYSIS, INC. - <br /> iN <br /> 2291 W March Lane, Suite 127D - L' ` i t 3 <br /> Stockton, California 95207 <br /> Telephone: (209) 952-3481 <br /> Facsimile: (209) 952-9892 <br /> January 23, 1997 <br /> Mr. Harlin Knoll <br /> San Joaquin County Public Health Services <br /> Environmental Health Division <br /> P O Box 388 <br /> Stockton, CA 95201-0358 <br /> Subject Limited Subsurface Assessment, 8960 W Walnut Grove Road <br /> Thornton, California <br /> • Dear Mr Knoll <br /> At the request of Mr Mike Manser of Thornton BP, Ground Zero Analysis, Inc (Ground Zero) <br /> has prepared this report detailing the limited subsurface assessment completed at the subject site <br /> (Figure 1) to assess subsurface conditions in the vicinity of the existing underground storage <br /> tanks (USTs) The scope of work included hand-augenng six soil borings, collecting one <br /> groundwater and six soil samples, and submitting the samples for laboratory analysis <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> Three 10,000 gallon USTs currently exist at the site The USTs were installed by Stockton <br /> Service Station Equipment Company in 1984 and are located beneath the pump islands The <br /> USTs currently store diesel, regular unleaded and supreme unleaded fuels According to Mr <br /> Manser, leaded gasoline was never stored in any of the USTs There has been no indication, <br /> from inventory records or otherwise, that any of the USTs have leaked However, a leaking line <br /> joint was repaired shortly after installation in 1984 The approximate location and orientation <br /> of the USTs are shown on Figure 2 <br /> FIELD ACTIVITIES <br /> On December 3 and 4, 1996, Ground Zero advanced six bonngs (HB-1 through HB-6) using a <br /> hand auger at the locations shown on Figure 2 Soil samples were collected from the capillary <br /> • groundzelmanserlsubsurf <br />
