In your letter, you requested a re-survey of the
vertical elevations of the five groundwater monitoring wells located on the Cal-Farm
Supply Stockton Facility (Facility) be performed. Additionally, you requested that the
groundwater gradients at the Facility be re-calculated using the re-survey data for the
groundwater sampling events dated 1 November and 8 March 1994 and 9 December
and 30 August 1993. A copy of your request letter is enclosed with this report as
Attachment A.
The re-surveying was performed by Siegfried Engineering, Inc. (SEI), a licensed
surveyor, on 25 January 1995. Others present at the Facility during the re-surveying
included yourself and Rudy Schnagl of the Agricultural Regulatory Unit of the Regional
Water Quality Control Board and Mike Godinho of Kennedy/Jenks Consultants. The
stamped surveying notes and calculations prepared by SEI are enclosed as Attachment
B.
The new surveyed monitoring well elevations are listed in Table 1. Table 1 also
contains the previous survey data for the wells located at the Facility and the
differences between the previous and new surveyed elevations. Table 1 indicates that
only minor differences exist between the two sets of surveyed elevation measurements.
Using the new survey data, groundwater surface elevations at each monitoring well
were calculated for the four sampling events indicated above. At the time re-surveying
activities were conducted, depth to groundwater measurements were made to provide
additional groundwater gradient and direction information. Table 2 contains the
groundwater surface elevations for the four accessible monitoring wells during the four
sampling events and at the time of the re-survey. Monitoring Well MW-5 is not included
in Table 2 because it was not constructed at the time of the first survey and because it
