Procedures for Installation of Deep Monitoring Well (MW-7)
Cal-Farm Supply Company Stockton, California
Monitoring Well MW-7 will be installed to a depth of approximately 35-feet below ground
surface (bgs)to assess the groundwater quality in the deeper water bearing zone. A conductor
casing will be installed for this well to prevent cross contamination from the upper to the lower
water bearing zone. Drilling will be performed by V & W Drilling (license no. 720904) and
supervised by an IT state certified geologist.
A fifteen inch diameter borehole will be drilled to the depth of the confining layer(anticipated to
occur at 30 feet bgs). An 8-inch ID steel casing will be set and centralized in the boring and
pushed approximately one foot into the confining layer. Cement/bentonite grout will be placed
in the annular space between the casing and the bore wall. The cement will be allowed to cure
overnight.
The following day, an 8-inch boring will be advanced by hollow stem auger through the inside
of the steel casing into the next deeper aquifer. A 2-inch well will be installed to monitor water
quality in the deeper aquifer. All drilling equipment will be steamed cleaned prior to use.
Drilling and well installation information will be recorded on a boring log by the IT geologist
