' On December 12, 1989, Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton collected thirteen additional surface soil samples
in the vicinity of the two areas identified during the preliminary investigation conducted in April
' and May, 1989. The analytical results from these samples indicated that pesticides, including
DDT, were present at concentrations between 62.5 ppb and 130,000 ppb.
' On April 10-13, 1990, surface soil containing pesticide concentrations exceeding 1,000 ppb was
' excavated and confirmation samples were collected under the direction of
Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton. The results of the confirmation samples indicated that one sample
' contained DDT at a concentration above 1,700 ppb. Health-risk calculations indicated that the
remaining soil did not pose an unacceptable health risk. The excavations were backfilled with
clean imported fill material on May 10, 1990.
' On April 19, 1990, Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton removed the 1,000-gallon diesel UST from the site
and collected confirmation soil samples. Petroleum hydrocarbons were not detected in the
confirmation soil samples and the excavation was backfilled. In addition the three trailers and
' their contents were disposed of on April 13 and April 24, 1990.
' On May 31, 1990, groundwater monitoring well (MW-5)was installed to collect additional soil
and groundwater data downgradient of the former tank location. Typical petroleum
hydrocarbons were not detected in soil samples collected during the installation of MW-5.
Petroleum naptha was detected in one soil sample.
' Groundwater samples were collected from all five monitoring wells on June 5, 1990. Petroleum
hydrocarbons were not detected in the groundwater samples collected from MW-2 through
MW-5. Petroleum hydrocarbons were detected in the groundwater sample collected from
' MW-1. Detailed analytical results from this sampling event are provided in Tables 2 and 3.
Continued groundwater monitoring at the site has been conducted and the results are also
presented in Table 4.
' 3
