Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton
Attachment G to Kennedy/Jenks/Chilton's
letter to Mr. 'Charles Whitworth
— dated 14 July 1989
Page 1
LEACHING POTENTIAL ANALYSIS
A leaching potential analysis (see following page) was conducted on conditions
at the site as presented in the decision tree flow chart int he California
Leaching Underground Field (LUFT) Manual dated 5 April 1989. This analysis
was conducted to obtain an estimate of the concentrations of TPH as gasoline
and diesel which could be left in soils at the site. The analysis accounts
for soil characteristics, hydrology, precipitation, and characteristics of the
chemicals involved.
According to the analysis, 10 ppm of gasoline and 100 ppm of diesel should be
allowable concentrations of hydrocarbons in soils at the Cal-Farm Stockton
{ site. These concentrations in the site soils should not pose a threat to
groundwater. Concentrations of allowable gasoline are lower than
concentrations allowable for diesel because benzene is a constituent of
gasoline. Benzene is a concern to groundwater because of its relatively high
solubility and the fact that it is a carcinogen.
s
i
i
