. is owned by the California Water Service Company (CWS) This well, designated by CWS as <br /> Station 7-02, is located on the west side of Sunnyside Avenue approximately 112 block south of <br /> Bradford Street in the City of Stockton, approximately 1,500 feet downgradient of former Thrifty <br /> Station#171 (Figure 1) On May 20, 2004, Thrifty spoke with Eric Marl of the CWS who <br /> indicated that the CWS does not release data regarding their wells, but he did state that as of June <br /> 2002, well 7-02 contained no detectable MTBE or other volatile organic compounds <br /> The nearest surface water body downgradient of the site is the Stockton Diverting Canal located <br /> over 1 5 miles to the northeast Mormon Slough is located approximately 1 0 miles to the <br /> southwest or upgradient of the site <br /> 6.0 POTENTIAL OFFSITE SOURCES <br /> During the site and well reconnaissance on May 18-19, 2004, Thrifty interviewed several <br /> residents in the area who indicated that gasoline stations previously existed on the southwest <br /> (1440 Harding Way) and northeast (15 02 North Wilson Way) corners of North Wilson Way and <br /> Harding Way to the north and west of Thrifty#171 Thnfty contacted the City of Stockton Fire <br /> Department and Building Department to obtain available records regarding the type of <br /> businesses previously located adjacent to Thrifty#171 <br /> Building department records indicate that a service station was previously located at 1502 North <br /> Wilson Way, directly north from the site across Wilson Way The earliest building record <br /> indicates that a service station was located at 1502 North Wilson Way as far back as 1948 The <br /> station was demolished and rebuilt in 1963 The most recent record (7/27177) indicates that <br /> Winston Tire was the site operator Currently, a smog certification business is located at 1502 <br /> North Wilson Way <br /> Building records also indicate that a service station was located at 1440 Harding Way, directly <br /> west from the site across North Wilson Way The earliest building record indicates that a service <br /> station was present on the site as least as far back as November 1955 Records indicate that the <br /> USTs were removed from the site in 1977 and Kragen Auto Supply then began retail auto parts <br /> sales that continue to the date of this report Selected building records are provided in Appendix <br /> F According to the SJCEHD2, neither site is listed on the San Joaquin County Contaminated <br /> Site Database and there is no known contamination at either site However, there have also been <br /> no known investigations performed at either site <br /> 7.0 DISTRIBUTION OF PETROLEUM HYDROCARBONS IN THE SUBSURFACE <br /> Petroleum hydrocarbons exist in soil and groundwater beneath the site as the result of past <br /> station operations Since the initiation of site investigation activities in December 1987, several <br /> site assessments (described in Section 3 0) have been performed to characterize the distribution <br /> of hydrocarbons in the subsurface A summary of the distribution of hydrocarbons in soil and <br /> groundwater beneath the site is provided on the following page <br /> • 1 Mr Eric Mar, California Water Service Company,Personal Communication,May 20 and August 3I,2004 <br /> 2 San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department, e-mail dated September 3, 2004 <br /> 6 <br />
