August 27, 1997 <br /> ♦ 0 <br /> Page 2 <br /> . a utility service to locate underground utilities or other obstructions <br /> at the site <br /> • Product Dispenser Samples One soil sample will be collected <br /> beneath each product dispenser Due to access limitations, these <br /> samples will be collected with a trowel rather than a hand auger or a <br /> slide hammer Samples will be contained in sealed glass bars <br /> • Soil Borings. Nine proposed borings will be installed at the general <br /> locations shown on Figure 2 Five borings located in the areas of the <br /> former and existing underground storage tanks (USTs) will be <br /> advanced to approximately 55 feet bgs Three borings located in the <br /> area of the product islands will be advanced to a depth of <br /> approximately 10 feet bgs One boring located along the north side <br /> of the site will be advanced to a depth of approximately 30 feet bgs <br /> • Soil Analysis. Soil samples will be collected every five vertical feet <br /> Selected soil samples submitted to a California State-certified and <br /> ARCO approved laboratory, will be analyzed for the presence of total <br /> petroleum hydrocarbons calculated as gasoline (TPH-g), benzene, <br /> toluene, ethylbenzene xylenes (BTEX), and methyl tert-butyl ether <br /> (MtBE) A minimum of two samples will be selected for analysis <br /> . from each boring <br /> • Groundwater Analysis Groundwater samples will be collected <br /> from four existing onsite groundwater monitoring wells Samples <br /> sent to the laboratory will be analyzed for TPH-g BTEX, and MtBE <br /> • Report. A report will be prepared after completion of necessary <br /> field work The report will include boring logs, a soil boring location <br /> map, soil analytical results, chain-of-custody documentation and <br /> findings <br /> Field and laboratory procedures are presented as Attachment A <br /> SCHEDULE <br /> PACIFIC is prepared to initiate field work within 1 week following approval of this <br /> work plan by the San Joaquin County Department of Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division A report documenting the findings of the investigation <br /> is anticipated to be submitted to Thrifty approximately S to 12 weeks after completion <br /> of all field wort. <br />• <br /> ')I I-002A\WPI AN <br />
